Our advertisements are, for the most part, “soft offers.” This means that the price of our products is not mentioned in the advertisement. This fact drastically increases the number of phone calls each advertisement generates. It also makes the job of the Telephone Sales Representative far more challenging and therefore far more rewarding both professionally and financially.
Telephone Sales Representatives are expected to answer these calls in a timely fashion and convert as many of them as possible into sales. Phone Sales skills:
A Telephone Sales Representative must:
- Have a clear, pleasant phone manner.
- Have and use superior listening skills.
- Remain courteous, respectful and professional at all times while maintaining control of calls.
- Be able to project a professional image on the phone without the benefit of eye contact, body language or other non verbal clues.
- Use tone and inflection that encourages callers to have a positive opinion of the Sales Representative and our company.
- Be able to make sales to all types of people regardless of geographic or demographic considerations.
- Be able to keep focused on each caller to determine the caller’s unique needs and tailor each presentation to convert the caller’s interest into an order right now, during this call today.
- Use various techniques, to lead each of our callers through our proven sales process.
- Possess and use superior product knowledge.
Self management skills:
A Telephone Sales Representative must:
- Be able to maintain a positive attitude
- Hold himself or herself completely accountable for his or her performance and attitude at all times.
- Have the ability to manage his or her time and attitude regardless of sales performance.
- Take direction from management and supervisory staff and implement this direction.
- Be able to learn and use the self management tools provided.
- Realize that every call counts and do his or her best on every single call.
- Be prepared to do his or her job each and every scheduled shift from beginning to end.
- Be able to manage time to maximize the amount of time spent productively on the phone making sales.
